Halstan Williams is recognized internationally as one of our leading fashion and commercial photographers. Originally a bricklayer, in 1975 he was encouraged to try modeling himself. He signed with Helen Rogers at the Plaza Three Agency and in 1976 became ‘Model of the Year’. This success earned him foreign representation by Nev’s, the top agency with worldwide associations. Other successes quickly followed, from 1977 to 1985 he was known throughout the world as ‘The Winston Man’.
“I want to paint pictures,” he told himself. “I want to make the images happen instead of just being photographed.” This led to his study of the art of photography, which, naturally extended his interest into the artistry of make-up design. In record time, his efforts produced remarkable results. He was soon working with international models by shooting them for the prestigious London Model Book.
Halstan quickly became a master of transforming ordinary people into beautiful models. His subjects appeared on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Women’s Wear Daily, and other leading magazines. New York and foreign agents signed his aspiring actors and models to lucrative contracts. To date, literally hundreds have benefited from his talents in international markets, enjoying highly successful local and national careers. Most recently, Halstan’s photography earned awards for Model of the Year, Actress of the Year and Child Model of the Year categories at the IMTA convention in New York.
This extraordinary creative talent never rests, his interests have grown to active participation in theater and films as well as screenwriting. After having explored the art of acting, he now counts dozens of stage productions, films and commercials to his credits. He’s also starred in three motion pictures, one of his most recent spots being an international automobile commercial for the Lincoln LS.
Halstan has come full circle in his innate creativity from getting straight A’s as a child in Art to now expanding his expression of art through his photographic images.
